Biography
Natalie Pennington is not your average fitness model and competitor. She happens to also be a dentist who currently works full-time and competes in the bikini division of the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB). This Korean/French Washington state native is making great strides as a professional fitness competitor. Since beginning competitive training a few years ago, she has already gained her pro card after only four amateur shows.
She was born in Renton, Washington in 1978 and grew up around Seattle. After a traumatic event, Natalie’s mom needed to get away so they moved to Korea from 4th to 6th grade. They moved back to Washington and Natalie finished middle and high school in Federal Way. Her mom put her through private schools up to high school and enrolled her music lessons. She played piano for 10 years and violin for 6 years; she was in a symphony for 4 years.
She went to college at the University of Washington, minoring in science and earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Her science minor met all the requirements needed for her to enrol in dental school. “All my life, even now, I’ve always done two different things at the same time,” says Natalie. “I feel like it is a subconscious thing to have balance in my life. In college I did the business and science classes. Now, it is dentistry and also my fitness thing.”
In 2002, Natalie moved to San Francisco and went to dental school. She attended the only 3 year, year-round, program in the nation and the University of the Pacific and graduated in 2005. She did her residency at Nova Southeastern University in Miami, Florida.
She’s been practicing for over 3 years now in the San Francisco Bay Area, and has been at the same practice for more than 2 years in Fairfield, California.
